How to Finish a multi-strand necklace
After you have made your necklace with as many strands as you want crimp the end of each strand leaving a small loop (1/4 ")of wire at each end above the crimp.
Cut a 4" piece of 20 gauge wire of your choice and round the end on a pair of round nose pliers at the 3" spot.
Gather all of the looped ends into the curve of the wire and wrap the 1" around a few times. Make this loop as small as possible.
Cut off excess wire on the 1" wrapped end.
Add a size 8 seed bead onto the wire to keep the crimps from coming out of the bead cap.
Add your bead cap. Use one long enough to cover all the crimped ends. Add another bead that matches your design outside the bead cap.
Be sure to choose a bead large enough that it won't slip down into the bead cap.
Make a large loop on your round nose pliers with the remaining 3" of wire and wrap the end a few times to make a nice finished end.
Trim excess and use a 4 cut file to smooth the cut end. Use the loop as part of the clasp with an S hook. If you want to use a one hook clasp,
instead of an S hook, put the looped end of the clasp in the large loop before you wrap it.
Do the same on the other end of the necklace. Finish the cut end of the wire by filing it with a 4cut file to make it clean and smooth.
Always file in one direction - moving away from you. This method gives your jewelry a beautiful, clean finished look.
